Why it exists
Ashtarak is meant to make a visual and sonic statement. The point is not only output or size — it is the ability to open the soundstage, deepen the layers, and preserve micro-detail while keeping bass tight, textured, and nuanced.
The open-baffle upper architecture is central to that goal. With the planar tweeter and planar midrange breathing into the room, Ashtarak aims for an incredibly transparent presentation while the closed woofer enclosure keeps low-frequency behavior controlled.
Hybrid architecture
Byurakan introduced the hybrid idea. Ashtarak makes the upper system more open: the waveguided planar tweeter and planar midrange operate in open-baffle form, while the woofer stays in a closed enclosure.
That split gives the speaker its intended character: huge and deep soundstage, precise layering, and high resolution without letting the bass become loose or oversized.
Technical notes
Ashtarak takes the hybrid idea beyond Byurakan. The tweeter and midrange are allowed to breathe into the room, while the bass system remains loaded by a controlled closed volume.
The upper bands inherit the Byurakan planar magnetic family, including the waveguided treble unit and matching planar midrange. The goal is speed, scale, and low coloration without hardening the presentation.
The bass section uses a PURIFI 10-inch extended-stroke woofer, chosen for low distortion, controlled travel, and the ability to keep texture intact at tower scale.
HDF for warmth. ARMAT X for control. Two paths, the same large-scale acoustic goal — and the choice belongs in the first conversation, not the data sheet.
The loudspeaker remains a passive design, with bi-wire and bi-amp capability for systems that need separate amplifier paths or more flexible setup.
